If by any chance you still don't have OS and looking where to download it, use this link for Linux distribution OS.

IMPORTANT! To be able to install the custom OS you will need to have JAVA installed on your computer.

You can download it here if you don't have one.

Before we start we need to download a custom OS to your computer.

For this example, we will use Centos 8 as our custom OS.

Now we need to access our dedicated server IPMI on which we will install custom OS.

Go to Terminal>Bare Metal>Dedicated Server>ServerNAME

Or press here and select your server.

Press on the Virtual console.

A new window will pop up will 3 lines of information (Link, Username, and Password)

Press on the link which will open a new window where you will use the given Username and Password to log in.

IMPORTANT The link you will open might show that your connection is not private, but it is totally safe! Just press ADVANCED and down below 'Proceed to console-###.heficed.com (unsafe)

After you enter the correct login details, you will see the main IPMI window (system).

Now to open the virtual console:

1. Check if Power is ON, if it is not press Power On (might take few seconds to load).

2. Press on the Remote Console Preview black screen to open the virtual console.

2.1. Sometimes a black screen can be white, but if you press on it, it will still work.

It will download a small file by name launch.jnlp, the browser will ask if you want to keep this file or discard it. Press keep and open it after it is ready.

Once the virtual console is open, press Virtual Media>Virtual Storage.

In a newly opened window, select Logical Drive Type (No. 1) to ISO File.

Then press Open Image (No. 2)

Find your downloaded custom OS file, select it, and press open.

Press Plug-In, wait till it says Device1: VM Plug-In OK!!

Press OK

After a successful custom OS mount, we need to restart the server in order to start a new installation.

Press Power Control>Set Power Reset.

While the server is restarting keep pressing F11 button on your keyboard till you access the Boot Menu and get Please select boot device window.

(If you don't have a keyboard or Remote Console fails to detect your keyboard inputs, you can use a virtual one, Virtual Media>Virtual Keyboard)

From the boot window using key arrows to select ATEN Virtual CDROM YSON and press enter.

Continue with the installation process.

After you select Install CentOS Linux 8, the installation process starts.

ATTENTION! After seeing the last install window, you will see a black window. It might take a while (5-10 minutes, depending on server location and you internet speed) till you see something happening, just WAIT

While the necessary software is being loaded, you can just watch the process and do not need to do anything.

When the black screen changes to an interactive one with the CentOS logo you will be able to select the basic CentOS installation settings.

(Recommended to configure Network card, set root password)

ATTENTION! While using virtual console/JAVA window do not close IPMI browser window as it will close console as well.

After installation is done, we recommend to unmount the ISO image and then reboot the server.

If while installing OS you didn't configure your network card you can do it after by using our Knowledge Base article Network card configuration
